With a long shoreline that fronts the Gulf of Mexico, Sarasota County offers the ideal combination of laid back beach living within a bustling city setting. The county is part of the North Port, Sarasota and Bradenton metro area with the city of North Port being its largest.
Sarasota County’s white sand beaches offer something for everyone. The famed Siesta Key beach is an award-winning slice of paradise that is consistently recognized as a top destination by TripAdvisor, Dr. Beach and more. From water sports and drumming circles to nightlife and sunbathing, Siesta Key beach has lots ot offer families, retirees, couples and everyone in between.
Sarasota County boasts a total of 14 beaches that span some 35 miles. Some other options include waterfront golfing and shopping in Longboat Key, a low-key, park-like setting on Anna Maria Island and the mangrove tunnels that are home to diverse wildlife and accessible from South Lido Beach.
While Sarasota County has much to offer the beach goer and water lover, the area is so much more than that. Baseball fans will delight in having Ed Smith Stadium nearby because the Baltimore Orioles have their spring training at the facility. Nathan Benderson Park, located in the county’s northeast end, is a world-class rowing venue, as well as home to dragon boat festivals and triathlon events.
The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, located in downtown Sarasota along gorgeous Sarasota Bay, is a living museum, tropical urban paradise and the only botanical garden in the world dedicated to tropical plants such as gesneriads, epiphytic orchids, ferns and more.
Historic downtown Venice combines a unique location with a vibrant setting whose history dates to the 1920s. In addition to diverse small businesses that pepper the region, downtown Venice is also the location of Centennial Park, the Venice Train Depot, the Intergenerational Fountain and more.
